Default 2008 A8 L Rear Sun Screen

Hi,

Just got a 2008 CPO A8 L. Great car! Quick question please. The rear sun screen is automatically activated every time I start the car. How do I disable this unwanted automation?

Thanks for your advice.

You can disable it from coming up. The default is for it to only go up when you push the button. You can disable it by hitting I believe "car then setup" then automatic blind open when car is turned on"

I have it disabled so it doesn't scratch the tint on my back window.
Enjoy the car!

P.S. its also in the manual

I've been concerned about tint too- mine's set to automatic but never gets put down.

It's not supposed to go down by itself is it (e.g. in the dark)?

Which piece is it?

Although Audi likes to sell "assemblies" we might be able to figure out which part and repair method between the brain trust here.

I had same problem. I bought used one from UK and repaired mine. Now I have spare also repaired and better than OEM. I made that little part out of aluminum. CNC wonder. If you are interested PM me.

It's the left slide roller wheekl that rolls on the window, it comes up shades fall down because of lack of support

Default Had no issues w/ tint and rear blinds...

Since I had it installed 4+ years and 50K miles ago. Mostly short trip drives so I have cycled the blinds a lot. No obvious marks from the roller wheels. If anything, I see a few more tiny marks from the normal up down front window operation than anything on the rear glass. I did dissemble the whole rear deck area for the tinting so it could run all the way to the sides and down to the base of the glass (not just to the deck area, which flushes up to the glass for several inches--A8's are considered very difficult to tint the rear window in full).

LOL, when I re-tinted mine I called ahead for a quote and approximate time, doubling both in my head to be on the safe side.
When I get there the guy comes out and says "You said it was an Audi, you didn't tell me it was an A8L !"

They did a superb job and I'm very pleased so the screen was in off mode for a month.

Thanks for the info, puts my mind at ease about wear from the wheels.
