Default Anyone have this navigation malfunction?

On startup, the map displays correctly. However, as the car moves, the map does not refresh and as you reach the end of the originally displayed map, the screen is simply blue. The navigation, however, keeps working correctly, and the annunciator in the driver information display is correct at all times. Turning the car off and letting it sit for several minutes (the normal soft reboot) does nothing to fix this. Has anyone else experienced this and, if you did, was there a fix other than a trip to the dealer? I don't know how the rest of you feel, but after two significant malfunctions in 5,000 miles (the other required a new HVAC control head), my conclusion is that this car is not nearly good enough to justify its price. I know I am intolerant but I feel I have the right to be intolerant of an $86,000 car. Audi and I are coming to the end of our relationship, I think.

Default Try a system reset

I haven't seen this, but try a reset: simultaneously hold down the TEL button, the central (big round) MMI control **** and the upper right menu control button (the one between the NAV button and the center control ****). Keep holding down until the system switches off. Then release buttons and let it boot up again.

Also explained in the MMI manual if you don't follow this or need it in the future.

Default Sorry you are going through your problems...

Hopefully the dealer will fix the NAV problem too. The car is NOT PERFECT. We all have some sort of problem with the D3, myself included. But overall, the dealer took care of it.

Default New car bugs?

I have not had that problem. Hopefully the suggested reset will solve the problem, or your dealer can get it solved.

I don't think the price tag quite justifies intolerance of problems. I think that's why they include a warranty. I had far more problems with my $103,000 Mercedes. If you want trouble-free, get a Civic with roll-up windows.

The most recent J.D. Powers quality survey ranked the A8 at the top of the class, so I doubt you'll be able to do better elsewhere.

Default Good observations

There's no question we accept the fact that we choose to drive more sophisticated cars and, in exchange, sometimes accept things less than perfection. That said, my 911 (admittedly driven less) has never had anything but routine maintenance. Likewise my wife's Infiniti FX (no Audi, but no slouch). Of course, the Audi may offer something neither of them do: after letting the A8 sit for a day, it has healed itself.

I have EXACTLY the same problem. Did you ever get it fixed? What was it?
