Audi wants my A8:
So the local Audi dealer has been sending me letters asking me to trade my A8 for a lease on a car....I have just ignored them.
So I get a call yesterday..I imagine a salesman. He says he needs my car and am I interested in selling it.
Its a 2008 A8L with 80k miles and it is very clean and runs great....(now).
So I tell the guy...the only way I am selling it to you is if I get an A8 and my payments is around what I am paying now. Which it around $500.
How do you think this will play out?
Like a pawn shop? I get less than what I owe and they try sticking me in an a4-6?
Or think they will try and get me in a newer A8 like 2014-16?
After I told him that....he still wanted to meet tomorrow to discuss.

Yes, they will be able to get you into a new A8 for $500 a month.
Just expect $20k down and a 72 month term, or similar.
It's pretty simple, you finance the depreciation plus interest one way or another.

I have only owned it for about a year so I still owe about 75% on it.
I'm not putting 20k down to keep the payments down. So its probably just going to be a waste of time.

Car dealers are your friend. "There's a high demand for your 2008 A8L".
A buddy bought a sweet Dodge Challenger for $40k about 3 years ago from a distant dealer. About a year ago he received the same form letter from that dealer offering "top dollar on a trade or outright sale". He ignored the letter and another one came a month later. He also received a phone call. A message was left for him.
The car was now two years older and had about 7,000 additional miles but was in the same condition as when he bought it. He called back and was told that if upon inspection it was in terrific condition and had the mileage he says; Their "generous, top dollar offer" for an outright sale would be $23k
Buy a car to run into the ground for the best value. IMO anyway.

I received calls from a dealer that sabotaged my car for over 2 years after I had already sold it. I progressively got angrier with them every time they called. They haven't tried to buy it from me for a while now. I also had another dealer mail me a 'guaranteed' offer of $24k for my at the time 4 year old SRT8 Challenger with 8000 miles.

I was doing some research over the weekend and discovered a few things.
- a New Chevy 3500 pickup truck can cost about the same (within a few k or so) as a new A8L.
- A new Chevy Suburban can cost the same as a new A8L.
I think that paying 80K for a pickup is NUTS.
- a New Cadillac CTS-V Sedan costs about the same as a A8L Very few options available on the Caddy compared to the A8. No sound system upgrade available, etc.
