Can't lock doors with car running
I have an 08 S8 and have a question about the locking feature. There are some days where I would like to start my car and let it warm up prior to driving, but have found that it is not possible to lock the doors with the engine running. Neither the button on the door handle, nor the remote lock button, or even opening the door and trying to use the door mounted lock button works.
My wife has a 05 A8L, and I noticed that I can lock her car while the engine is running.
Is this something that can be changed via VAG COM? Thanks in advance for any input.

I have a 04 and I can not lock my doors while the car is running. I tried all that you mentioned and nothing worked for me also. Dont know if it can be VAG-COM or not.

As far as I know, no
They don't want you to lock your key (or especially your kid!) in the car, which otherwise you could do via ythe keyless entry push button locking. You may find the sam,e issue even in the trunk by the way. And once or twice when the key fell oout of my pocket (or I had been sitting on it), the right design as it turned out.

Yeah, I can lock the car when I'm in it with the key in the ignition or when the cars off and the keys in my pocket. I also like how someone else can not lock the car unless they have the key using the door handle locks on the outside. great addition just to make sure you don't lock anything inside !
