Default Chevron Techron+Shell V-POWER=extra 2MPG

she's got 132K and I run an hour to work each day on the highway going 75-85 MPH. I only run on Shell V-POWER. (I may impartial because my father sells Shell) I average 20.5MPG which I am very happy about, can't complain. Once a month I add a 20oz bottle of Techron and my MPG almost instantly rises to 22.5 MPG for a couple of fills.
just my 2cents

Forget Shell. It is just another gas. Techron, or some other injector cleaner, makes a difference. Cleaner injectors disperse fuel better creating smaller droplets that burn better because they can get more oxygen. So for the same power you need less fuel.

Shell V-Power has Techron though, no ?

Have always used Shell because a) it's convenient, b) it's on Top Tier list, c) in my head it seems to work better

My D3 really liked Shell, but now I have FSI carbon issue to worry about too.....

From what I've gathered, Techron is a great solution for the carbon issue.

As I know Techron is Chevron's injector cleaner. I believe Shell have different name for the same thing. It generally dissolves carbon deposits, gut on FSI engines it can't reach intake manifold. But if car is not burning oil there will not be any deposits. Just enjoy D4. You will not own it long enough in order to suffer deposits. D5 is already in a final phase of designing.

Same reasons I use Shell.. I tried Sunoco but it make my car feel heavy and burn more gas for some reason so I stick with Shell.

Default What a retarded thread.

I drive 25k miles per year and mix Shell and Sunoco. I even add Techron periodically to clean things up. There is ZERO improvement with any combination of the above. Stating that there is a difference between fuel brands just proves the poster to be a tool.
