Mishar and others,
while I am certain your research will reveal whether any type of modification can be made such as the D4 **** or any other type, I am simply wanting to retain the stock **** and lower it by 1 inch. Once you get the donor part I think you will notice more easily that there is about 1 inch of parallel metal before the shaft starts to expand as it rises towards the **** in a conical vashion. All I want to do is cut that extra inch off and lower the overall height. I think that will create a look more befitting the high-end interior of these cars. The dang thing just sticks up too tall reminding me of every Camry I ever rented from Hertz.

I have that eBay shifter.
I've disassembled it. That was not simple without any instructions. I hope it will be much easier with detailed ones.
One inch shortening won't be a problem. I need to make new bottom aluminum part. It is just a mask but it has to be different in order to avoid rubbing against sides.

Looks good, and looking forward to seeing more pics of the innards. Wonder how it will look once in the car and if there are any unexpected ergonomic issues as a result?
Any luck with figuring out if the tiptronic direction can be switched around?
