Default Driving and MMI & Dash Die.

I was driving down the road just the other day, the roads had finally cleared up enough here in Idaho that I could drive without worrying about road debris or ice. Car has been serviced regularly and have not had any outstanding issues. This drive started just like any other, it was cold out so I drove about 6 miles before my temps were up and I was merging into traffic and got up to about 4k RPMs. The car immediately shut down, MMI went blank, my dash Cluster died and I even lost steering for a very brief moment. I have had an experience like this before about a year and a half ago and back then my belt had snapped not allowing my alternator to charge my battery and it slowly died.

I pulled off to the side of the road, shut down my car and checked under the hood. All belts look intact and nothing seems out of the ordinary. I got back in the car and my PRND was high lighted in red and my MMI had reset and time was showing 12:00 so it reset completely.

I have parked the car and ran my Vagcom but am having difficulties deciphering. Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Below I have attached the summary and only the sections that reported a malfunction. I know some are not relevant but wanted to include everything.

First and the easiest would be that your battery is dying. How old is it?

Battery was replaced less then 1 year ago. I can however test the battery and get back to you with what its currently showing.

Drawing 350 amps with a load tester I still had 11 volts.

Time reset happens when the cluster is disconnected or loose power. Everything else looks like a sudden lost of power, probably because of some serious short circuit. In the scan you also have one over voltage. It would come for the same reason since the generator will try to keep voltage at ~14V and moment that short circuit was opened (probably burnt) voltage jumped up. Such serious short circuit that would "repair" itself can happen inside the battery. Do you have any symptoms now?

I drove it just a short 15 miles yesterday and parked it. No issues, I did however notice that when I go into VCDS and I look into ABS it throws a Parking break issue on my audi itself. I will see if I can replicate that today while recording it and post here.

Default Aliens?...

No, I can't decipher that one. As suggested, I would tend to guess some battery issue though. I see some of the fault dates were reading 2064, so that is obviously out of some electronic time warp too.

Your tranny display description also means that went into a safe mode, which would mean something like 4th gear and a perceptible change in the drivetrain feel. That mode also limits engine speed to 4000RPM, at least on a W12. Also I can speculate that if you were above 4000 RPM at the point it kicked in (sounds from your description coincidentally very much like that), the engine (fuel, spark or both) could have essentially cut out until RPM's came under 4K. From experience, that area feels very much like a "dead zone" like governors often do. On shutdown, it would reset to normal if the car electronics believe it to have resolved. Odd though you have no code in TCU or ECU that I can see. Manwhile though, did it reset to normal actually, since you mention the display as reversing AFTER you restarted it?

I would clear all codes and then monitor. On ABS, mine also turns on the dash warning and makes the loud warning sound whenever I enter that module. One word of caution: I would not EVER enter the VAG COM diagnostics/self test for that ABS module on a D3 unless you want to risk frying it, after which the light stays on all the time until replaced. Don't ask me how I know... Your codes in there do seem to be saying it couldn't get info from lots of other places on which ABS (or especially anti spin) relies--ECU, TCU, steering angle sensor, etc.--so I would tend to put this in the "symptom" category rather than cause/issue bucket. If code clear here and light stays off on exiting module, leave it be.

Thanks for the response, Everything points to an issue with electrical and I will try and track it.

I am glad to hear I am not the only one that has that issue when accessing ABS.

After I started it innitially the first time I was still lagging and having slight issues, however I was able to make it back to the shop, Now that it sat a few days yesterday when I drove it there were no issues. I will access it and clear all codes and see what comes back.
