Default External AV source 1 and 2 in MMI

Hi all,

I've some enquiries about MMI 2G system in Audi A8 2007.

1- How I can use the external AV source as there is no where I can see to plug any external device? And what is it for exactly?

2- some people say that I can use it by installing a specific av adapter that can be connected into the 20 pin red connector behind the DVD navigation in the boot. But I'm not sure how it can be done exactly. Here is a link for the this connector cable in eBay

anyone can help please?

thanks.

Default CD/AUX Button and 20 pin

Hello, So I assume you have the CD/aux button a not just the CD button and when push CD button it goes through CD TV av-1 and av-2, or if you push CD and then source you see my attached picture,
If all this is present then you have the TV tuner in the trunk by the nav unit , and yes then you would get the AV input adapters in insert them into the 20 pin red connector to the TV Module.

This will allow you to use External connection 1 or 2 to come through the TV Tuner then straight to the LCD screen when asked for at the head unit. So for example

AV1 - DVD player
AV2 - Anything with A/V RCA'S

All selected from the head unit on the external source option.

Manual Video- In Adapter A6 4F, A8 4E, Q7 4L
Please disconnect the battery before starting installation.
The TV receiver has to be removed of the left hand side of the trunk (Q7 right hand side). Remove the 20-
pole red connector. Remove the red housing and put the single looms of the adapter into the black
connector as follows:
PIN-configuration:
[PIN 09 – Shield Audio left/right] [PIN 15 – Shield Audio left/right 2]
[PIN 10 – Audio signal white, left] [PIN 16 – Audio signal white, left 2]
[PIN 11 – Audio signal red, right] [PIN 17 – Audio signal red, right 2]
[PIN 12 – Video signal gelb] [PIN 18 – Video signal 2]
[PIN 13 - Video/ Shield ] [PIN 19 – Video/ Shield]
Video output (only for Hybrid-Tuner):
PIN 4 – Video Shield
PIN 5 – Video signal
PIN 6 – Audio Shield
PIN 7 – Audio left
PIN 8 – Audio right

For the AV input here is what I used pasted below, also here is my post on the install,

Thanks "JohnnyJ" for such a useful reply.

1- is there a specific DVD player I can install it in the boot? If so how I can get a power for it?

2- can I use the DVD navigation as a dvd player for media?

3- in case I installed a DVD player, is it playable while the car moving?

Please help

Default Apple TV installation problem

Hi, everybody! My car is 2008 Q7 4L with MMI 2g. Just connected Apple TV to the AV2 input. It works perfectly with the main monitor but OEM headrest monitors shows black and white video. As per manual it should be optionality to change coding of the video signal at the monitor menu but in reality no such option. Is there any idea how to solve this problem?
