Default Going to repaint, which color?

I have decided to have my 2004 A8L repainted, it is currently beige, just like Bally's post and pictures a few listings below. While I like the current color, I really want something darker. The interior is beige as well. I am thinking of the cherry black, does anyone have any other suggestions? Since these cars are so beautiful I am looking for a little something unique as well. Thanks.

Default Lexus makes a Metallic Brown that is gorgeous. Looks like Root Beer.

I saw a newer Lexus CS430 convertible recently this color. In the sun it was so spectacular we could not stop staring at it and my first thought was "they should put this color on the A8".

It would rock with the beige interior.

It may have been a special edition color. I have looked and looked but I cannot find the name of this color. Go to an automotive paint supply store and look at some paint chips.

Default so many wonderful color out there.

Kind of partial to oyster grey hehe. Just saw new Jag XF in Pearl Grey, love this color! if your local dealer doesn't have one(check it out on Jag home page). Also saw mid 90's 911 turbo painted black with blue metal flake over tan leather, wow looked fantastic! waited for the guy and he said it cost him 6k (wish I had pics) My father just painted his xlr an old school Acura color called Brooklands green pearl, is very classy and he kept roof black. Have you seen any of the Audi exclusive color choices? They are all wonderful as well. Good luck, keep us posted.

Default

BMW has a dark metallic taupe. Not many around, and it would look great with your interior.

Default Changing color may not be a good idea in the long run

It may not matter to you, but changing the color usually raises big red flags at sale / trade in time. It's virtually impossible to change the color everywhere such as inside the engine compartment and under inside trunk lids and the like. It's also coded to the VIN so it always raises the suspicion that it was done to hide something.

That said, I thought the quality of the paint on my Mercedes was better than what it is on my Audi. It seemed to be much more resistant to swirl marks and scratches. If I were to repaint my car it would be with the Mercedes metallic black.

Default ARE YOU SURE ??

My question is who is doing this paint swap ? Have you received any quotes to get the work done ? What was included in this price ?

The big question on this is how GOOD do you want it to be because personally unless you are planning to strip the car basically to the shell then don't bother.

Before anyone flames...I know what its like to change the color on a car...Ive done it on my own 4 times. My most recent color swap was on my 2004 VW R32 and before that a 3 series BMW. The cars were stripped do what was basically only the main engine and trans connecting points and the sub frame. Everything else was gone. Hood, trunk, doors, fenders, bumpers, trim, door moldings, front rad supports, fuel lines etc etc....all had to come off in order to prep the car for paint.

This doesnt even include all the parts that break when they are pulled off....and then nothing ever wants to go back on the same way once they are pulled off.

To make a long story short....the A8 is FAR FAR FAR more complicated than the R32 and to properly color change the A8 should cost no less than $15,000 if you are lucky enough to find a shop to do the work. There is SO much labor involved that most shops will laught at you when you even bring up the possibility. If they were to bill you by the hour it would cost well over 20k and they much rather do the fender benders and put 3k in their pocket for a few hours of work.

But good luck if you decide to do it. Trust me...Ive eyed up my car a few times...not anytime soon.

PICS for reference.

http://forums.dubkorps.com/showthread.php?t=212</a
