Headlight range control and adaptive suspension warning lights
new to forum and a8 d3.
friday the warning light for headlight range control defective and yellow car with up and down arrows came on while driving.
no bumps in the road or anything else to report.
suspension still moves through full range with no in unhappy noises.
doesn't drop to motorway when in automatic and +75mph since error though.
are there any forum members willing to scan my car in swindon, wilts? of course I'd be happy to pay a few ££.
any ideas or suggestions welcome.
thanks all in advance.
new sensor and plug on order.
will update when complete.
bit the bullet.... vcds ordered.
motorway mode and light level (tested last night in the dark) seem to be ok after the visit - even though the code was present and the warning lights still on.
when my VCDS arrives today i will see what that is saying and update again.
cable arrived, downloaded and installed latest version.
connected to car with ignition on.
scanned.
saved a copy of the results with all historical faults.
cleared all DTCs.
scanned.
all DTCs/faults cleared (all but the level/xenon codes were intermittent).
the only faults now showing are those as confirmed by my trip to the garage, namely;

this was extremely straight forward.

would i be correct in concluding that the dodgy fix that had been done to the wiring at the sensor plug could be the culprit considering the first fault (012 - Electrical Fault in Circuit)?
either way, the sensor and a new plug has been ordered and should be in early next week and is covered by a 3rd party warranty.
for those that are interested...
if you clear all DTCs you may find that the summary (at the top of the scan results) will still show a malfunction;
08-Auto HVAC -- Status: Malfunction 0010
try going into the controller and clearing the codes there to keep the CAN gateway happy.

learnt something already today.
now - i've got some real work to be getting on with!
thanks everyone.
