How do you guys store your car for winter?
#12
I drive the Audi all year but the other car is in storage for 4+ months due to our winter snow, I do the following for a car parked on a lift in a garage that is kept around 40F:
1. Add Stabil to the fuel and fill the tank
2. Go hone change the oil & filter
3. Wash and vacuum the car, remove the floor mats, and obviously remove any crap in the car.
4. After the wash drive it a few miles to clean and dry off the brake disks and ensure the Stabil is thoroughly mixed in the fuel system + the clean oil is circulated.
5. Over inflate the tires (check the sidewall for the max) I usually inflate to around 50psi. I’m not a fan of putting the car on stands and over extending the suspension for extended periods. With the over inflation you minimize the tire flat spots.
6. Park up, scatter some large silica bags around the footwells and rear parcel shelf, I purchased mine off Amazon, clearly they absorb any moisture.
7. Crack the windows about an inch
8. Attach a battery tender
9. Cover with a fitted car cover
Then in the spring, you adjust the tire pressures, remove the battery tender and drive the car. Never had an issue with the car once spring comes. I would also say don’t be tempted to start the car every month and run it, its not worth it and does more damage than good.
I am sure man have an opinion on this, but it works perfectly for me.

Completely agree with all previous member's comments here. The A8 is amazing in the snow and I, like Mr. Bally have ran our cars in HORRIBLE Michigan for 10+ years, still looks great. I wouldn't ever have this car, even if it were the fully loaded W12 in tip top shape; sit in a garage all winter.
However, to answer your original question... My S5 is so modified that there's no way I would want to run it in the winter, or could if I even tried. Here is what I do for that:
1. Wash and clean the car inside and out
2. Park the car on carpet in my garage, or put it on jack stands so that the tires/wheels aren't touching at all. I can no longer do this due to the car being so low
3. Add Stabil to the gas tank
4. Put the battery on a trickle charger and close the trunk
5. Put a car cover over the car and let it sit
6. I change the oil when spring hits, not before I let the car sit. Just personal preference
