Well first off you dealer is a noob. Only the first half of 2005 production A8's had onstar; mine does not. My dealer updated my MMI all the way from 10.7; yes that old. They said it went very smooth and no issues whatsoever.

Default On Star makes it easy to add Bluetooth to 04 A8...

just plug 'B' cradle into receiver below arm rests, plug 'puck' into cradle, snc phone and you have Bluetooth

And no, dad didn't pay it, i GAVE my old 1998 S90 to my dad.
