2001 allraod
Our 2001 allroad, recently sold to mother-in-law, has been totally rock solid. So rock solid -and we BEAT on this car for 6 years- in fact that we just bought a 2007 Q7 and a 2007 S8. Those two cars are too new to be able to comment on their reliability. But so far so good (2,000 miles on the Q7 and 1,400 on the S8).

being in L.A., I wouldn't have opted for a 4-matic in a Benz anyway but
when I was looking, the S550 was much pricier than the swb A8. I guess at the end of the day, the lease was going to be similar to S6 lease or a bit more. As i said earlier, I didn't really need or want to extra length of the A8L (or the S550). I thought the S550 was a great car though, with tons of great state of the art features. I still like the look of the A8L better, but that's just me.
There is a AW member that just went from an A8 to an S550. I think it is Arkay. I think he was comparing the S550 to the S8. One of his reasons, I think was that the lease was much better than the A8 (if I recall). I'm sure the S550 lease was much better than an S8 lease. The the sticker for a "normally" optioned S550 vs. A8L is much higher (than the A8L).
