Exactly. If OnStar, no original factory bluetooth.

Default No.

While I have no Dension specific experience, on the Audi side for bluetooth no upgrade would be necessary for the factory system. As I said, you re at 3360, which is the version first needed for Audi's AMI system (iPods, MP3's, etc.). That 3360 version was from the 2007 era--thus I know your 2005 must have been updated at least once--but Bluetooth worked from mid 2005's when it was first factory installed. My 2006 car for example shipped with 2750 (or whatever the last 2000 series version was). Bluetooth worked fine from the start. Dealer updated it to 3360 under warranty when I reported a "surround sound settings issue," though getting rid of the warning screen was the bigger win. Bluetooth of course still worked. Ditto on next two self upgrades.

Default Upgrading MMI Question

I recently purchased a 2006 A8L
the current MMI version is 1190 see attached images. I few questions and would welcome any support. I would like to perform the upgrade myself as Audi wants to charge me for the upgrade.

i have the following cds
3360 (3.3.60) - {Update CD p/n 4F0 906 961AB}
4610 (4.6.10) - {Update CD set p/n 4F0 998 961}"

my questions are

1. Do i need to upgrade from 1190 to 2750 (2.7.50) then to 3360 or can I go straight to 3360?
2. I am looking upgrade to AMI once i get 3360 is there any real benefit in going to 4610
3. I have a schumacher battery chager (SE-1275A) will this work holding the charge while performing the update?
4. Is there a way to backup the current MMI in case any issues come up?
5. Other than ensuring the power is off and the battery stays charged is there anything else i need to ensure for a safe and successful update?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

1. Go directly to 4610 and do not waste your time and risk more problems by doing it few times.

3. Any battery charger will do. Including this one.

4. Unfortunately no.

5. A bit of search can help. This was covered many times.

Thanks Mishar for the info

I performed the upgrade to 3360 successfully prior to your reply.
I have done more research and i am hesitant on upgrading to 4610 as I do not have VAG Com tool yet and I understand there are issues like HVAC cannot be accessed via MMI...or car systems menu incomplete occuring after the 4610 upgrade.

I called Local Audi and they wanted to charge me $300 bucks to perform the upgrade and they asked me to send them the ZUG 864 TSB.

One other thing I still have not gotten a clear answer on:

1. using 4610 (4.6.10) - Update CD set p/n 4F0 998 961... do i have to use both CD's? the first is a cleanup disc. the second is the actual update.

If i got a clear cut answer on whether the upgrade issues occur on every upgrade or isolated incidents I would proceed.

What are your thoughts

Thanks

Even if you are doing it in a two steps you will loose Battery Status and HVAC Menu when you upgrade to 4610. You have to turn them back on. You can do that using Hidden Menu.

Start with the Disc 1. It will update whatever is there to be updated. As I remember it will be Bluetooth. Disc 2 will update the rest.
