Default MMI Access/"Grey out" while driving

My current ride is a 2008 Lexus and the Navi system and the Audio selection is severely hampered/shut down while the car is moving. For example, the passenger is unable to enter a destination in the Navi while moving. And, the passenger is unable to scroll through and select songs on ipod while moving -- all of those functions are available at stop but "grey out" while moving/

Are there any such issues with MMI - or are ALL capabilities available while moving?

Thanks

The MMI on my 07 A8 is fully functional whether moving or stopped. I don't even have to acknowledge a warning screen at start up (something I read that you had to do). The MMI is nice!.

Thanks. I do not have to acknowledge (they stopped that for '08) but the system is otherwise incredibly over-lawyered.

My Garmin GPS has a feature like that; that you can't change settings while moving. But, you can disable it in the System settings. Are you sure you can't disable yours in the Lexus?

You cannot change it in the Lexus, period. I had a 98 GS400, and it annoyed me more then anything. I remember many times programming the nav at a stop light and not being able to finish before the light changed green. I then could change any radio stations until I came to another stop to finish programming the nav otherwise I would have to start all over again. I don't miss that part of the car.
