New Trunk Hinges

Re: finally had the motor replaced, which did the trick.
I hope you're right. My trunk (2005 A8L) wouldn't close at all. Just kept bouncing back up. They replaced the hinges yesterday. That didn't fix the problem. They're replacing the motor today. We'll see if that fixes it!

Re: Not yet!
Back to the shop! The hinges and motor were replaced. Trunk still not closing properly. Now they are going to replace the "smaller motor" that executes the final locking. That's happening on Thursday. I'll keep you posted.
Still....the rest of the car is absolutely freakin' brilliant!

And even still not fixed.
The saga continues. Now a full 5 days in the shop, 3 separate visits, and the trunk is still not fixed. Apparently we just keep working forward, replacing stuff, one piece at a time, until the trunk closes properly. So far, the tally is 2 hinges and 2 motors.
Funny thing is, it's like I'm the first person they ever heard of with this problem.....I've directed them to this forum as a little educational field trip (virtual, of course).
Anyway, it's back to the shop when the next part arrives, next week.

Fixed!!
It's been a saga, but the Trunk is fixed. Pretty much replaced everything that moves....the hinges, the drive motor, the latch motor, etc.
Anyway, I can't complain about the service...they did everything they could to keep me happy while they located the problem...it's just a crappy design.
