Default Ouch road debris causes some nose damage, would like some advice.

On my way from Cleveland, OH to Maryland last weekend some road debris shot out of the car in front of me and broke my grill, also some of the adjacent painted area became stressed, and the clearcoat is stressed and cracked in a small area. I hace a couple of questions:

1. Should I get the bumper repainted? The reason I ask, is I had a similar situation with my A6 and I had it painted twice, and the repainted bumper really never matched the car, nor did the paint really hold up, it seems to me that nothing is as durable on the bumpers of these cars as factory paint is? What do you guys think?

2. I was thinking about replacing the grille with an S8 grill, is it a direct fit?

3. Is there an outlet for good / refurbished parts?

4. Can anyone recommend a shop in Northeast Ohio that they really trust?

Thanks,

Aaron

Default I'm pretty certain that even if you get a new front bumper cover, they'll have to paint it...

...these things don't come pre-painted, as far as I know.

I had the same situation with my A6. It took three trys before the paint was as hard/durable as the factory paint. Never had a problem with the shop matching the paint color.

Default What color is your car?

Some colors are hard to match, even with the correct paint.

I use
Magic Custom Restyling
15375 Brookpark Road
Cleveland, oh 44142-1631
(216) 267-7227

Their shop doesn't look like much, but they do good work. They tell me that every detail matters - temperature when painted, humidity, ... Just having the right paint is not enough. They sometimes have to tint the paint to make it match the rest of the car.

It's a dark metalic blue, will the S8 grille fit it, without modification to the front facia?

You have an '06 with the full grill, so I'd say yes. I believe the S8 grill should fit with no further modification, but of course I'd double-check with your dealer's parts department.
