Psi check on 2007 A8 (usa models) poll.
I noticed yesterday I was getting the "low pressure" error. I referred to the manual and the recommendation was about 33 - 35 PSI for A8. Low and behold I noticed on the tire menu it mentioned 42.5! for 3 tires and 40 for 4th hence the error.
Wanted to know from people what pressure tires people have for their A8's. I may need to correct it to approriate pressure. Please do share.

As you may already know anytime "your" pre-established tire pressure drops more than 2-3 pounds the warning goes off. Just clear it by turning off and resetting.
You'll find many varying tire pressure settings for AW-D3 drivers, depending on the usual factors, comfort, tire brand, etc. I try to keep mine around 37.

I keep mine at 37psi - cold. I just installed new Michellin Pilot Sport A/S and noticed that they were about 40psi once they warmed up. When cold (51 deg) they were 37. Don't forget to check the pressures as winter temps start arriving.

Better place to check than manual...
You should look at the tire pressure sticker; required now for all U.S. cars. Look on the fuel filler door again. It's relevant too for which set of wheels and tires you have. There are two basic groupings with different pressure ranges, in addition to the lightly loaded vs. fully loaded choice.
Short version: I use 40-41 cold on 275/35 20's on mine.
For the poll to be optimal, it needs the wheel size in particular.

IMHO, alot depends on the specific tire, and your preferences/driving style. For instance,....
on my summer tires- Yokos, 44psi (cold) all around was best, after trying several different setups. When I switched recently to Michelin A/S, 44 was way to harsh. 37 seems about right, although I'm still tweaking. And with the big differences between day and night temps here in Denver this time of year (can vary 30-40 degrees), it's difficult to get them right. YMMV. I guess what I'm saying is, anything between 34 and 44psi may be right, as well as a 2 or 3 psi more in front than rear. You'll have to play with them to get it right.

My tires are Continental 255 R 45 18's.
PSI is supposed to be 2 or 3 notches higher in front tires rather tnen rear ones? I'm going to re-adjust everything to 40 in rear and front. Will look closely to the configuration indicted in drivers side panel.
Also, the A8's doesn't have tire deflation protection does it. I have heard w/ BMWs for 50 miles the tire can hold up the pressure.
Just thinking a lot about it lately cause my wife had a tire blow out on a highway in a 03 A4. & to say the least it was quite an episode.
Let me know thx.
