Today I disconnected both arm rest couplers by removing the air vent and replaced a new fuse (1A).

I used this movie:

I just had this exact same issue. I started with the armrest and the wiring looked perfect. On a whim, I disconnected the two connectors (behind the ashtray) which run up to the armrest and problem solved. Keep this in mind if fuse #29 (drivers door panel) starts blowing.

I had the same issue...followed the directions here and problem solved within 15 minutes...all the dash lights, ash tray, cup holder, etc. are back on. I know for certain it is within the passenger armrest, but I just disconnected the connector as I don't care if the light works in the arm rest or not. Maybe I'll pull all of it apart another day to resolve the wiring, which I'm convinced is the wire broken due to interaction with the gears as was shown at the beginning of this post by JohnnyJ A6Q . Thank again to everyone for sharing their stories, pictures, and how to resolve - this is a tremendous resource!
