Remote start....on an A8? Or do you mean keyless start? Not a fan of keyless systems. Far to much risk of getting stranded if for example you drop your wife off shopping, and she has the key in her bag (and it's not obvious you have forgotten your key as the car opens and starts normally).. Off you merrily go to the autoparts store or wherever and park up. Good luck trying to get it started again.

OK, after reading this thread, if I'm not mistaken, A8 D3 doesn't have Positive Post for battery jumping in the engine bay? How does one want to jump start the car if the battery is low or dead?

Correct on no under hood post, but still easy...
What I guess many forget about with the remote and keyless gadgets: There is a key slot for the trunk, tucked up under the area you grab near the license plate. Stick the key in there, just like the old fashioned way... Turn and presto, trunk open. Open battery compartment and proceed to charge. Did this just last week when light switch left on 12+ hours.
And yes, per the thread if you stuck the key in the ignition (since keyless cuts out as battery gets low), you either need to go thru the key release procedure (like if away from home; see owners manual), or find another key from the set. BTDT too (using extra key), since often car would still start with key in ignition if battery low even if power mngt system had shut down the push button start I usually use.

I have back up camera and I do have a place for the key. They put it symmetrical – on one side the camera, on other side is the key slot.
I have Audi A8, 4.2 FSI, BVJ with sport suspension.
