V-1 mounting location - '06 A8L
I noticed the mirror is moved closer to driver, making the usual spot I use (passenger side, high on glass) useless. Cannot see it at all from driver side.
Driver side of mirror is an option, but if you drop the visor you lose rearward vision of detector.
Anyone have good options for location?
Thanks!

I should have brought a lawyer with me....
That persecutor was the most miserable person in the world. I have never met anyone so rude in my entire life. The only person she was nice to were other lawyers. The judge was cool. On a side note since I figured all the cops in the town were packed in the court house, i took it upon my self to go 85 through there precious little 25 zone on the way out of town. Irony of all of this was I was going back to my car I saw a ton of people just blow through the town at speeds pretty close to what I exited at. Nice enforcment. On a side note the court room was packed, this is a quite a little racket they have going there. The state should investigate because I think the town makes all of its revenue this way.

Crap....
Can't get a good answer, and can't find a good solution. Only answer: remote display. Sucks, but seems like the only solution outside of a K40 remote system.

Re: Crap....
I only use my V-1 on long trips. I attach it to the passenger visor when I want to mount it high beacuse I expect to do posted +40 or more (reckless). But if I think I'll only do 25-35 over, I set it on ther dash close to me. But, I ALWAYS use the remote so if officer friendly does come after me or sneaks up behind with no transmiision and then instant-ons me, he won't see the thing light up like a Christmas tree.
When on the visor, I tuck the cord on the A-pillar and through the glove box.
The valentine uses a multiplex circuit to deactivate the main display when the remote is powered. Because of this (experiment to confirm this), you can grab power from the sunroff motor or the On_Star power circuit and not have to route wires from the main V-One to the remote display. As far as I know, the A8L's do not multiplex, it uses a CAN bus not PLC (power line carrier) so any power wire will operate the remote and disable the main unit's face.
Only downfall is that the passenger can't use the visor. But, I am usually by myself on the longer business trips. I'm sure you can customize an installation.
Once you use the arrows, you will wonder how you ever lived without them!

how's this possibility?
Can the forward and rear sensors of the V1 be disassembled? The front sensor is placed directly in front of the mirror, while the rear sensor over the decklid brake light? Couldn't the signals still be sent to the processor for interpretation before going to the remote display? I have a V1 as well and it's well worth the money. Just wished it was a little thinner.

No....
Mike Valentine's been asked this a hundred times.
You could do it, but it's not worth the hassle or loss of unit/warranty.
Have to mount it on the glass, and higher is better.

well then that sucks...
I was actually hoping that a detector would somehow be worked into the NAV screen. Give you approximate locations on the road. I have my V1 hardwired for my S4 so it's easy to put up high to the left of the mirror. The A8L is more difficult. I just invision a radar like those in a fighter jet and being able to see the bogies coming at you.
