Default VAG recoding after new battery

I know I've read about this here before but the search didn't find anything useful. I need to replace the OEM battery on my '06 SWB sport, actually surprised it has lasted this long!

I know there is some code that needs to be entered on the VAG-COM ( which I already use a lot) but wonder if there is a proper code on a group49 battery from NAPA or O'Reilly's??? I'm sure the dealer will want my left arm if I buy it there...

TIA

Default Have a cull through this thread:

you find most of what you need, including some battery codes you can use..

Figured I needed a new battery because after the car had sat for over a week the clock and date were wrong- thought it had shut stuff down to save charge as I didn't have a trickle charger on it.

But I've checked the battery level on MMI a few times when driving and it always says 100%. May wait until closer to winter and colder weather... just don't want to go out sometime and have it dead!!

Default My experience with a dying battery...

...was that the MMI battery meter showed 100%, alright. But, it was only 100% of that particular charge, whatever the remaining battery lifespan was.

As the battery neared the end of its lifespan, the MMI still showed 100% when fully charged, but for shorter and shorter periods of time.

So, my battery that had 5-10% of its total lifespan remaining, showed 100% whenever it was completely charged. But that was only a complete charge on the 5-10% remaining.

Hope that makes sense.

Reality was that when she left me hanging after 15 minutes of radio use during a lunch break, and I had to call for a jump start (a painful story in, and of, itself...), the bugger got replaced immediately. I chose to go through the coding procedure with the VCDS even though some posts said it wasn't truly necessary.

Carry on...
