Wire Harness and plug under Battery Compartment
Hello all I purchased a 2005 Audi A8L a couple days ago. The MMI doesn't flip up or down (its stuck halfway), it doesnt light up and neither to the controls on the center console. When replacing the battery I noticed a large wire harness and adapter with nothing plugged into it (pictures below). Does this have anything to do with the MMI not working? If not, what is it? Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you in advance

I dont recognize that one, but what is actually installed under the battery is either the rear seat video basic controller box or the trailer module control box. Dumb place, but where they put them. Both are identical boxes, but do different things. They are screwed to the underside of a piece of sheetmetal in that area. But those use two plugs and either plug is way smaller than the one you show, and not at all in same very long plug configuration either.

I'm pretty sure that should be connected to the EPBC module which seems to be missing.

check the other side see if the amp and tuners in place, open optical can cause that look like some parts was removed smh.... is any light in the dashboard/cluster on??
also try resetting the mmi system from the keypad, see if the screen comes on briefly, if it does there is an open optical line....

That harness has nothing to do with the MMI working or not.
Since the MMI screen is stuck 1/2 way between up and down. the gears for the MMI screen have likely broken. Search this forum for how-to info. There are sellers on ebay that have the gears needed.

If you can't see it lighting up or trying to raise up it could be disconnected because the owner got sick of the noise of the screen trying to lift up.

Indeed it did turn out to be the Air Suspension Module. The MMI still wont turn on and VAG-COM scans show that it appears to be disconnected from the Optical bus

So given that module was missing, better check what else may be gone.
Since MMI in weird position and dead, see if its controller is there. It is on the optical loop too. It is all the way behind glove box. I think you need to pull it, or at least lower it beyond normal position to get to where the module is--pretty deep in. Also see if CD is in glove box. Other major modules are in trunk on driver's side (US). Nav unit, phone, sat radio, radio, etc. A guess is the MMI module was either pulled or burned out. If not, maybe keypad is messed up, but I don't think that explains the optical fault.

This car was a stolen recovery. All the Modules in the trunk on the Drivers side are missing except one that was hidden behind a metal plate. I couldn't find the part numbers for the missing units on Audi's website. I have intentions on going to an auto wrecker yard and seeing what I can find there, but I don't know what Im looking for. I did run a VAG-COM scan of the Optical Bus and it spit this out:
