Default 1/4 mile track is open, can I pick your brains 2017 A8 4.0?

Like the title says, the local 1.4 mile track is open. I am no stranger to drag racing and bracket racing

I also am no stranger to boosted 4wd drive launches ether and traction controlled vehicles.

My 2017 A8 4.0 is a new platform for me. though ....

1) traction control off, single push of the button, but is there an advanced traction control off process?

2) leaving on boost, but what seems the be the best RPM;s to be sitting at, at launch?

3) Sport Mode and Dynamic I assume, but what about paddle shifting it instead?

4) a little weight reduction... removing things from the trunk/car, and having as less fuel in it as I can

5) Side mirrors tucked in

6) I probably toss in a gallon or so of E85 and let it end up at E15 and learn for a few days before I hit the track

7) Ooops, can' forget to open the exhaust cutouts ; )

8) I am thinking 12.6 -12.45 ---- Guesses?

Anything else to consider........ or missed

If you hold down the traction control button for a bit longer you'll see "braking guard off".

I power brake my car to 2,400RPM via launch control (2016 S8) it stops there by itself.
  1. Place car in Dynamic mode
  2. Press traction control button and wait until Brake Guard off appears
  3. Brake to the floor with left foot, accelerator to the floor with right foot
  4. Light turns green, release brake
I haven't used the paddle shifters, as things seem to happen REALLY FAST, lol. Let us know how your track day goes!

Will do, Launch control, not for the A8? So, when I hold and push traction control, I see traction control off, do I release and then re-press or do I keep holding it.... (I guess I can go find out on my own, Lol)

Elevation also plays a factor. Where are you located?
Air filter and exhaust generally do not add any power to the 4.0T, just sound.
So I'd venture near stock times 12.4@113 mph to 12.8@108mph...at near sea level.

Also FWIW E15 is equivalent to 88 octane...below the minimum recommended for the 4.0T.
https://iowarfa.org/ethanol-center/e15/e15-facts/
I think you mean mix it to be the equivalent of E40 which is about 100 octane. (2 gal E85 + 2-3 gal Premium 93 octane gasoline (with the standard 10% ethanol). That might put you at the limits of the fuel system. Other threads say E30(97 octane) might be the max of the stock fueling system with ethanol. Better to run some straight 100 octane race gas but no real benefit since you don't have a tune to take advantage of the extra octane anyway.
I think the E85 blending mainly benefits anyone with a tune to take advantage of it or if you live where 91 is the max since you can blend ~1:6 (E85:91 octane) to get 93 octane equivalent ~E20 which falls within the range of the fueling system of the 4.0T and can be beneficial on both stock and 93 tuned motors when trying to meet "rated specs".

I am located as close to sea level as you can get,...... Bay Area.

I will be mixing E85 with 91 Octane ..... I am mixing E85 with 91 and doing so to get E18 to.92 Octane.

Your saying it wont benefit it at all? I know it won't be anything crazy but it should run better..... I just want to get better octane to eliminate knock

The car was made to run on 91 maybe with a little benefit with 93 octane, but will not make any additional power beyond 93 on stock tune.
If you currently experience knock then it will of course help, but you should not have knock on even 91.

I think that is exactly correct. In Texas, we have 93 octane EVERYWHERE but it doesn't seem to make a bit of difference in my car.

While we're on the topic of speed I watched this video yesterday that I thought was interesting with regard to 0-60 hero stats and drag racing.
