Two issues: (1) you're absolutely correct, if he won't do it for free, then I will suck it up and buy another one and (2) luckily NO WELDING! These dual tips come with a mounting system where you just fit it over the muffler pipe and screw it on. Easy to replace when the time comes.

Bad news, the shop now tells me car will be ready tomorrow. The suspense is killing me!

Too bad you can't get the correct tip overnighted to body shop, since they have to keep it another day...or can you?!!!

Not even remotely possible. I've never been able to find this part other than on ebay and the sellers are all in China. Audi has never even heard of this part, which is odd as you have them on your car. I wonder if yours are actually PART of the muffler itself. I'd be surprised if it was but you never know. I've searched everywhere on the interweb and have never been able to find this other than the ebay guys.

I think you're right about the tips being part of the rear muffler assemblies. The link below has a diagram that seems to show them already there.

It's really ridiculous...Bend a tip and have to spend $950 to replace the entire rear muffler, and then add in the cost of installation!!! The chromed trapezoidal opening trim is $370!!!

I don't think they want people doing exactly what you're doing.

That is very possible Jack. I spent a total of $1100 for parts, including tax. Paint and install should be another $350 or so, so all in $1500.00. Not the most expensive thing ever, but certainly not for the faint of heart.

$1300 for an APR tune and you could bump up power to 425 HP & 364 FT-LBS. Then you would have the go to back up the show.
