Audi A8L with 57000 miles, should i keep it?
Hi Audi owners,
i have 2012 Audi A8L with sport package, rear entertaintment package, and most extras, except night vision.
My audi insurance just ended this month,
they want $9700 for another 4 years.
Can you guys tell me the risks that involve having this car without insurance, and also what parts have you guys changed from this point to 120k?
Thank you. Rear entertaintment

Hell no would I spend that much for a 4 year extended warranty. Ridiculous. Just do the standard preventive maintenance and enjoy the vehcile. Also, if you have an issue don't just drop it off at the dealer which will charge you 60% more then a good independent German mechanic. There are plenty out there and a little searching yields excellent savings. Like all cars - all the fluids, transmission filter, fuel filter. May have to do some some suspension work around 100k miles. New battery every 3 or 4 years. Preventive maintenance is the best way to keep everything running great. This method also gives you the optimal time to buy your own parts and save even more money. I'm all about that. I'd rather keep it in my accounts.

You're fine, the salesman are just trying to scare you into buying the stupendously overpriced insurance. Seriously, I'd call half that too expensive. Keep driving it and you'll be fine. Make sure you get the recall done on the transmission cooling valve if you haven't, otherwise it's unlikely you will spend even a quarter of that insurance cost in repairs for the next 4 years.

You should sell it to me for $25,000. I'll take the risk.

I have 130k on the 2012 Audi A8L right now and its riding good though not perfect since I have to replace the front upper control arms which will set me back 2000 dollars. I had the front control arm bushings replaced and sway bar bushings and links since I am getting small vibrations in the front chassis on the highway despite perfect balance new tires and rims etc. Its not bad but annoying. I should of gone with full new control arms instead of having my dealer replace the bushings themselves which dont always fix the issue. Though on my older 2006 A8L which I ran up to 170k miles I had the front upper control arm bushings replaced which solved my rough ride. noise, and vibration. Otherwise this car is excellent. I had the left rear suspension go out 2 years ago and it was replaced under extended warranty. I highly recommend you get the 100k audi extended warranty given that your car is a 2012 model and it will be a peace of mind.

I am buying the parts myself as its cheaper and then the labor is another story but they do a good job each time. That 2,000 dollars was both parts and labor. And my mistake, its for both upper and lower control arms and ball joints. I am going the whole way.
