Default Looking to purchase S8 , p2096 code and seems slower than should b

Hello guys so I'm looking to purchase an Audi S8 coming from a Jaguar XKR. I take my car to drag racing events regularly and I'm kind of getting tired of getting beat by less powered Audis because of all-wheel drives so I thought I would join the team!
So I found a pretty good deal on an Audi S8 but I have no experience with them what to look out for. This car in question has 83,000 mi And it's priced below retail. I checked Carfax history and last service performed was it the same shop at 500 mi increments Around 150i back, carfax said thermostat was replaced coolant system checked. I called and they didn't want to get too much details but said there was a leak and they replaced thermostat. Test drove the car in person , coolant and inch below minum line. I think owner did not bother to check. I tested the car with draggy 0 to 60 And it came out slower than I expected around 4.3 this is at 4500 density altitude. I was expecting to be under 4 seconds, So maybe an indication of an issue? I did 5/6 hard runs , No signs of overheating , slight hesitation at start until turbos kick in, not sure if this is normal. No check engine light codes but when I tested with my OBD2 reader code p2096 came up. Owner said he was not aware of it. Modifications on the car are aftermarket intake and spacers on the wheels this is about it otherwise it's pretty clean inside and out. I made a video of the car sounds, will post in a link below. I would appreciate any input you guys can give me.

Engine idle sound is normal IMO. Level of coolant is not as important as wether or not it continues going down, i.e., is it a consistent level at a cold start. I'd get the level back within range while warm and measure the next few days before a cold start.

As for codes, get a full scan using VCDS or similar like ODB11. Generic ODB codes won't tell the full story here. BTW, thermostat housing leak is not an uncommon issue so with the mileage it does not surprise me.

.
Maybe a stock intake would improve the 0-60

Within a couple of months of purchasing my pre-owned 2016 S8, I got the dreaded Check Engine Light (CEL). Was the same code as yours. I could easily clear it (with OBD II), but it would come back within a day or so. Turned out to be the O2 sensor. I don't remember which one, but the code will tell you the exact location.

Search the forum for "P2096" or "P2098" and you will have a dozen or so threads to read through that discuss or touch upon this fault.

P2096 in S8 means ,,too lean” reading on postcat O2 sensor bank 1 (cylinders 1-4). In my case it was wrong O2 sensor. No CEL since I replaced O2 sensor

Engine sounds normal to me, exactly like my S8 which just turned over 90,000 miles. Same clicks, spinning, and electronic gadgetry sounds. As for the speed, I agree the 0-60 seems slow. Biggest concern - Condition of turbos, any shaft play, and was the dreaded oil screen, oil separator and check valve replaced with the revised parts... Many blown turbos due to clogged oil screens and silly manufacturer recommendations of oil changes every 10,000 miles. Check-out the blown turbo thread which you can't miss on this forum and also the one on Audizine and you will see plenty of wailing and gnashing of teeth on this topic. Also, does the car have the 1k/3k vibration due to poor flex pipe connection? You notice it when decelerating and a slight stutter when you are coasting at 1k RPM coming to a stop. I was so giddy when I purchased my S8 that I completely overlooked this. Another thought since the car is at 83,000 miles, was the 75,000 mile service performed which includes replacing the spark plugs?

Keep the XKR. You will miss the feel of the rear-drive XKR. An S8 should be well below 4 seconds. My stock "regular" 4.0 does 4.4, 4.5 consistently.
My XKR does.... oh who cares?

0-60 time sounds correct if you didn't launch the car properly. Car has to be warm, in dynamic mode, traction control off, switch to manual mode, then hold brake with left foot and put the accelerator pedal all the way to the floor with your right. Release brake when ready to go. That should net something close to mid 3's. If you tune with DS1, and add the upgraded fuel lines and ethanol sensor along with a 25% mix of E you should be able to get some sub 3 second 0-60 times.
