Default MMI Issues

Hi All,

just purchased a 2012 audi A8L and have an issue, when i click on telephone on the screen the system freezes for a few seconds and wont load so i cant connect my phone or play music through it. im thinking it probably needs updating. would anyone know what update i would need? my current media version is HN+R_EU_AU_P0612 and current Nav version is AR0060884AR ECE 6.15.5

Thanks

Just parsing the basic MMI version at end where it says P0612, you are on an older one. My early build 2015 is P0733 at end, which I know is still older than the "814" version they put in our Q5 last year when it was getting lost as far as vehicle location. It is that version (814) or later you likely want if basic resets don't fix it. Covered in a TSB if you search. If off warranty, costs $$ at dealer. Done w/ their computer hook up now---not the old D3 era of stick disks in the CD drive.

Ummm, dark web? Tor? .northkorea, .kgb or .putin perhaps? How's your Windows security?

As in, typically dealer only for 99.99% of owners. More seriously, if you drift to other boards and more likely C7 or the A/S/Q 5 or 4 boards you may find some pointers. Most of those posts though are more about the maps stuff, and Audi has opened up map upgrades some on the last year or so of C7's with a hardware/OS set up that got tweaked relative to what D4's have.

In general, it is not just slam bang iPhone app or windows patch type stuff. A few of the guys on D3 board--where MMI updates are pretty easy for enthusiasts with $20 genuine dealer CD's--are deeper in on the electronics. But this board hasn't really gotten there so far with still newer and pricier cars. But, have at it and let us know. BTW, around $4K for the system with fundamentally a hardly even sold any more 60G millennium drive at it core if it gets bricked. As in, having been fine doing my own MMI updates on D3 with dealer CD's and correct instructions, I'm going let dealer work with mine while under warranty...
