I recently acquired a CPO 2013 A8L and I didn't notice it initially but when the navigation loads up, and then every once in awhile, the MMI screen makes a repetitive electronic sound. It's very similar to that of a hard drive running on a computer. It'll make the hard drive like sound for 3 or so seconds and then it disappears for another 15 minutes. Then it'll happen again. On an hour long drive I'd say it happens 5 or 6 times. Everything works fine and there is no disruption in service. Is this normal or should I be terrified that my nav is going to implode on me?

I asked this same question a few months ago, can't find it, but it is normal. Even 2016 models have it. I believe the guess is it's the navigation HD.

Thank you. I was coming from an earlier model a4 and the navigation never made these sounds before. I thought it might be my cell phone interfering with the system.
