My A8L vs new M3
Last night on my way from the mall, I had an opportunity to race new M3. Highway was quite empty so I figured why not. While passing the driver my whole family was waiving at him from the back and front seat. I think i crushed some BMW ego yesterday.

@audisession I guess you don't see my signature. I have 3.0 stage2+. So no he didn't have a chance. And he did push his car to absolute max at certain point we were doing 150 and I was ahead.

even if you tuned your 3.0T to let’s say, match the S8 performance to 570hp, (which is Unlikely) the
S8 does 1/4 mile in 11.9 sec at 118mph
M3 does 1/4 mile in 12 sec at 119mph
just saying before risking it all to best a M3, they’re pretty evenly matched with a S8.
i regularly get boy racers in civics and s5’s trying to race my 911 but I stop at around 90mph on empty highways where limits are say 75mph - not because I can’t go faster - I just don’t bother

Okay let us look at the numbers:
Audi S8 https://autotk.com/0-60-times/audi/s8/ 1/4 mile in 11.6 for 2017 and above. 2016 and older 11.9
BMW M3 https://autotk.com/0-60-times/bmw/m3/ 1/4 mile 12.4 for 2018 and older
So speaking from the numbers 12.4 - 11.6 = 0.8 is evenly matched. I don't think so.
Unfortunately, I do not have 1/4 mile for my car but judding from this thread https://www.audizine.com/forum/showt...Database/page3 A6 3.0 that's only 353LBS lighter than my A8L 3.0 was able to get 11.18 (A6 has same mods as I do). To be very generous I would say my car can make 1/4 in about 12. It is still way better than 12.4 and evenly matched with M3 IMO. Also, APR is claiming with Stage2+ will produce 468HP a little more than 425 for M3 (granted M3 is lighter than my A8L).
It does takes a real man to know how to drive fast. You have to be sure of your skills, car and trust your mechanic does proper work on your car. Someone who is an old fart in 911/corvette or boy driver in S5 shouldn't race. I agree with you on that.

Not passing judgement on speeding (heck, doubling the speed limit lol), but I'll bet NotoriousGLU is correct. I've had several BMW cars (all five series) and two were modified. They were GREAT from a standing start and even some pretty impressive highway acceleration, but they "peter out" once you get over 100. I assumed it was gearing, but it could have been something else.
BTW, my 1/4 mile drag racing experience tells me that every tenth of a second is approximately a car length (across the finish line). This seems to validate the claim.
Happyracing driving!
