I had already read that review. Didn't realise that was you.

Very detailed and in depth. Thanks for that.

I smoked a tesla from a dead start last night. I had to give the S8 an extra "atta boy" after that.

That's impressive given the instant shove from electric.

I have an Escort Solo S3 in each of my cars because they are cordless and mount low on the windshield within easy reach. I have to change out the batteries (2 AA) about every 1 1/2 to 2 months--to save battery life they have a feature that turn themselves off after 30 minutes of idle time if you forget. I also always turn off laser protection since if you get a laser signal you're already caught.

I use a Beltronics V10 for my bikes--each bike is set up with hard wiring so I just move the detector around.

That's the only car that gives me concern, but it would have to be the new P90D model with the $10K Ludicrous Speed upgrade package to beat the S8 (762 HP with 716 lb-ft torque). The only way to tell is the "P90D" rear badge is underlined. Supposedly 0 - 60 in 2.6 seconds--yikes! Faster than any other car Motor Trend has every tested except the Porsche 918 Spyder and the Ferrari LaFerrari.

So what good is laser protection in a radar?

Just lets you know you are about to get a ticket. Fortunately most LEO's don't use laser and stick with K or Ka band since you have to be stationary to use laser and point at your target.

So I take it they are using laser when they're outta there car and pointing the gun at you?

Yep, that's what they're doing and the only time you hear the signal from your detector is if you've been hit since it's very focused, unlike radar where you will get a signal because it scatters if they shoot at someone else ahead of you or if just driving along with their radar on.

I find that there are a lot of false laser signals for some reason so that's why I turn it off in my detectors.
