Default 2019 Headlight Info

Hi everyone!

I have been considering an A8 for months and have test drove a couple. I have gotten close to buying a couple times but the deals werent quite there.

Anyway, I got my eye on one that checks almost all of my boxes except the matrix headlights.

Is there really much difference considering the matrix headlights aren't even fully functional yet? Does anyone know if there are still plans to make them fully functional?

I assume the standard headlights are already pretty high quality anyway? Nice bright led with nice looking drl also I assume? I honestly haven't seen real clear pictures of the drl...

Thoughts and or tips anyone?

Thanks!

Matrix headlights are not available in the US yet and to the best of my knowledge were not even offered in 2019.

I'm pretty sure the enhanced headlights on 2019 units are matrix just with the functionality disabled...

they are Matrix design, which is not Matrix

Matrix is not offered from the factory on any Audi in the US

Nearly impossible to capture headlights or drl's in a static picture. It's their highest level sedan, the lights will be more than ok.

Oh so even with a software update after the government approves the lights still won't be like the euro ones?

That said is there really much difference between the standard light package and whatever the upgrade is? Is basically just to get the animation stuff?

You would have to pay someone here to implement the proper coding for you.

Matrix design gives you the animation. Some love, some don't, some don't care. All personal preference.

I'm confused by this thread. My understanding is as follows: *Some* 2019 models came with the hardware for Matrix headlights; they are fitted to the car, but they were not coded to operate in the US yet. They can be activated through coding and operate the same way as the european models. Recently the US rules changed to allow manufacturers to qualify their products as compliant with the new regs allowing matrix-type lighting, but Audi has not yet done so.

Lol! I'm also confused but really what in trying to figure out is do I want to miss out on an A8 that has all the other options I want besides the upgraded headlights?

It's funny too when i first started looking I really couldn't tell the difference. Lol

not sure what is confusing - that is exactly what Matrix design lights are, which is what I wrote above
