I suppose these recalls should show up in audiusa.com but it hasn't yet for me. Guess I'll just wait for the letter.

Mine hasn't shown up on the website either. However the dealer said it was needed.

It's not showing up as a recall but I think it's working as intended. The US letter actually doesn't use the word 'recall' based on my quick perusal above. I think Audi is trying to keep it on the DL and as such is calling it a "service action" / "repair". Lawyer cats at work methinks.

Here's the TSB on the service action (see attached PDF). It specifies the latest BSG part number:

C8, A8, 4M or S8: 4N1-903-028 Alternator

This is very helpful, thanks as always!

One thing that really surprised me here: Why are the RS/S cars limited to 2020 only? Was there no 2019 Audi S8? No 2019 S6? That strikes me as incredibly odd. I'm also 99% sure the 2019 Audi A6 Allroad was a thing b/c I was cross shopping that with the D5.

This is so strange. I wonder if the failure rates with the -B BSG (which is on the RSQ8 as an example) was indeed lower than on the -A (which is used for the D5 EA839 V6 engine as an example), but even then, why not start with 2019?

Another thing that stood out. The A8 and S8 in this TSB both are using 4N1903028. The S8 is a V8, so shouldn't that be a -B variant?

So many questions, no answers!

According to the 2019 U.S. Order Guide, there was no S6 or S8. IIRC, those variants premiered in the 2020 MY. While a thing in Europe, the A6 Allroad also wasn't available in North America in 2019, only the A4 Allroad. It came back to our shores as a 2020--Here's the opening except from Car & Driver of their A6 Allroad re-launch review:

"What's New for 2020? The Audi A6 Allroad has returned to the U.S as a 2020 model. It will start off with a Limited Anniversary Edition that features a Gavial Green paint job and a Sarder brown Valcona leather interior that pays homage to the original A6 Allroad that was sold in the United States from 2000 to 2005."

Mine goes in tomorrow. I’m wondering if the software update will knock out my unlocked matrix LED’s. Anyone know?

It definitely should not affect it. It's two separate modules.
