Default Laser Hi-Beam Lights Available for U.S. A8L 60

The newly revised 2020 A8L 60 TFSI Order Guide released on 7/10/19 now shows the Audi Laser Lights as an available option (option code 8IZ). Still no pricing.

Unfortunately appears not to be available for ordering on the A8L 55 TFSI.

Any ideas on if they are also pending regulatory approval for activation like the HD Matrix Design LEDs?

I believe BMW already offers these for some time now, so I think they're GOOD TO GO. No regulatory hold up on these at least.

If it’s anything like the R8 it’ll be $3500.
as cool as it may be...no thanks.

Very doubtful it’ll be that extreme on the A8. The already available Lighting Package with the LED matrix design headlights and OLED taillights is already overpriced at $3,400 and, competitively, BMW USA only charges $1k (MSRP) for their 7-Series Laser Light/Matrix headlight bundle:
Icon Adaptive LED Headlights with Laserlight — $1,000.

Also, in Germany, the Lighting package consisting of the matrix + LED headlights and OLED taillights lists at 3,100 euros—currently that would be $3,472 US. That pricing is less than what we get here for the $3,400 Lighting package minus the Laser hi-beams. My guess: an additional $1,000 to $1,800 MSRP.

But the LED headlights with Audi Laser Light does list for $3,500 on the R8, so who knows. If you drive a lot on dark rural roadways or mountainous roads, it might be a worthwhile safety item for some. Buyer’s choice.

Thanks, derfA8L!

Your heads-up on availability of the laser headlight enabled me to quickly go back to the dealer and ask last week for this option to be added to my order - placed in late June.

My sales rep called tonight with good news - they were still able to make the change. Bring on the laser lights! Still no price though....sounds like it will be a $$$ price but I stopped adding things up awhile ago so....... I am treating myself to this uber-luxury wagen because I am entering what will likely be my last decade for caring what I am driving. I believe my age and the last gasp of combustion engines are coming together in the 2020s to mark the end of an era.

I'm with you here and this was also a driving factor in my D5 purchase. I can live with the P0 hybrid family of cars (48V battery, DC DC converter, BSG), but it all goes to **** from here. I plan to fully understand the car as much as I can and with the help of shovelling money into the cesspit dealer my goal is to drive the thing for a long long long time!

What's a few thousand dollars amortized over 10+ years?

They finally listed the Laser Light MSRP. Listed at $1,000. The Matrix-design headlights & OLED rear Lighting Package is required however. Total investment virtually as estimated above ($3,500+$1,000=$4,500)—Still more than pricing in Germany though. And yes, it’s an available option on the 55TFSI model also.
