'92 100S - New Radio - Wiring Harness?
I just bought a 1992 100s and the previous owner had a pioneer cd changer installed which doesn't work anymore and I now want to purchase a new head unit, but I have a few questions that I can't seem to find answers for, I would appreciate any help...
1) Where can I purchase a wiring harness for installing the new unit? I have looked all over and can find things for A4s, and other models, but nothing for a 92 100s - Any ideas?
2) I know there are a total of 8 speakers in the car, but what size are they? The back right woofer is busted and I will probably just purchase a new speaker to replace it for now, but I would like to purchase all new speakers sooner or later, but I can't figure out exactly what size they are.
3) Is there anything else I need to know about the wiring of these cars before I go about modifying the sound system? This is the first import car I have owned so I didn't know how much different they are compared to a Ford or Chevy
Thanks for the help.
Chad

Re: '92 100S - New Radio - Wiring Harness?
1. Check out an older 92-95 Vw passat or Jetta harness.. that one worked for me.
2. The ones in my car might be different if you dont have the Bose system in it. My front doors were 4 inch and the rear doors were either 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 i believe either will fit.
3. Be careful to look out for any external amps in your original system had them. If you have them you might have to remove what is left from the stock system and start over.
Good luck!

Re: '92 100S - New Radio - Wiring Harness?
I have a '92 100S. I got a new head unit and polk 5 1/4s in the back. They needed a wiring harness (circuit city carries them). The speakers however are listed as 5" with amps attached to the backs of them (look in from your trunk). I had to... ahem... modify the plastic bracket to get the speakers in. The whole deal sounds great though.
