Re: audi 100 electrical problem
Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
Summary: SHORT IN ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, CAUSING COMPUTER/GAS GAUGE/WARNING BUZZER/RADIO TO FAIL. *AK
This is a costumer complaint from NHTSA and seems similar to your problems. Does your car stall at times? Most electrical problems in Audis 91-97 are a result of defective ignition switches; about 9 out of 10 are defective. Audi makes the worst ignition switches and have been redesigned at least a dozen times and they still are not good. Also, it does not matter if it is black or a white ignition switch too b/c both have have failed in the past.
Have you tested the brakes to actually know if ABS is not working. ABS relay or no-continuity in the abs wire running from (front vehicle along drivers side frame to back seat ABS module) could be the cause. The ABS module itself could be faulty. I would not attempt the wiring unless you know the electrical system well enough.
