The Climate control head went out last summer in my 92 and the shop put in a head that they had from a newer car i believe about 96, (that's what you said you have available, i believe) but i am not sure that it is working 100% yet

It was recently pointed out to me that the display on the newer ones is more 'red' than the older...
ones. I'm a little color blind, so when I was testing 4 different CC units last weekend I had my wife watch the colors and pick out any anomolous ones. She picked out the 93 as being distinctly orange compared to 2 1996 units and my 1997 CC unit.
Some people like me don't care ....other's are quite keen to upgrade to the newer red ones.
Do they swap? Yes, to the best of my knowledge. I've tested a 1993 CC unit in my 1997 A6 and it plugged right in and worked. I've also tested a 1996 unit in my 1992 100 CS with the same results. I didn't go as far as mounting them in the hole, but they appear to be identical in bolt-hole spacing and size.

Thanks for the input guys.
I am getting multiple codes on my Vag-com (don't remember which at the momemt) but everything works just fine as far as heating and cooling goes so i guess that i will just leave good enough alone at the moment.
Maybe when i get my sony laptop back from Best buy repair center i'll check into it again.
