Default Disappointed.......

I bought my 97 A6 on a whim, with 92k miles..Looked at BMW again...no! I wanted German made, and after having driven 4 models of Mercedes Benz prior, I am reconsidering.

I have had nothing but problems with my Audi within 10,000 miles of use. It's for sale for cheap!

While I realize I am not going to make any friends here, Mercedes Benz clearly makes a better German ride, without question! I owned and drove the 450SL, 190E, two 300-D, and the newer W210 E 300D, all were superior in all respects to the Audi that I drive. Race my diesel engine to 5000 rpm, sounded like a smooth jet engine revving up, and with absolutely no vibration......do that with my audi and it's going to blow up!

Wish I had bought another MB..........

AUDI is better than most, but drive a benz, if you want better!

Default Good riddens.

Have fun with the CIS injection, vacuum operated everything, steering box's and very expensive parts.

I like how you say the Audi is bad after only a short time driving one. Maybe you got a lemon?

Default Re: Good riddens.

I doubt it.........Valves ticking, struts filled with water (freeze) $500 transmission fluid change, what....after 92 thousand miles?

Not to mention removing the entire front clip to change a timing belt.....! Audi lovers are disillusioned!

I never had any such issues, with any auto, including my 93 F150, with 210k.

I read this forum and realize these Audi cars have to much headaches, not what I'm used to..,..sorry......

Default You don't know what you're talking about.

You don't have to take the front end off to do a timing belt. Read a couple posts down..

Valves ticking is the lifters, that causes no harm other than noise. Never heard of struts filled with water. You got screwed on the $500 transmission flush. That's not the car's fault. You can't say Mercedes is any better with one car as an example. Plain and simple. These forums are to talk about how to fix things and do regular maintenance. Maybe all you Benz people talk about is what kind of wheels you like on your cars?

Default ^^ Couldn't agree more. Well said.

First of all, you bought a used car with 92k on it. You ( and the rest of us) have no idea what condition or care that car is/was in. Was it serviced regularly and always maintained and driven with respect. Or did it have the bag run off it, by someone who took it to Jiffy Lube once a year? You can't talk smack about the car until you address what's really going on with the car and why.

Of course you read about us repairing our cars....for cryin' out loud, that's why we're here. Go to BenzWorld or Mercedes Shop Forum (where I also frequent) and you'll find the same questions and the same stuff going on.

Comparing an A6 to a 450SL? Come on! The 450 is a horrible Benz, as are the E-class and C-class cars.

A diesel 300 engine compared to our V-6? You've got to be kidding. That's tractor engine...and a great one, but you sure can't compare it to the smooth wind of the 12v engine.

Your preference may be to Mercedes, and that's fine. But they are definately not better than Audi's cars. They're different, not better. Big difference!

Check back in and let us know how you fare with the next clapped out 190E you find for $1,500.

Default Is it just me or...

Would a timing belt & auto trans flush be pretty standard for a 1995 A6 with just under 100k on the odo.?

With the timing belt just done, you should be good for another 90k or so...

Just find a mechanic who isn't finding ways to pay for a week in Cancun next time.

Pretty normal maintenance items, not to mention the peace of mind.
