Default Door Lock Vacum Pump stays on for 15 seconds when unlocking the car??????

Hi all,

As of today I have noticed that my vacum pump for the door locks stays on for 15 seconds, way after the doors have actually unlocked. Has anyone else experienced this? My ignition switch has really gone crazy latly and I am going to replace it on Thursday, could it actually be causing this problem?

Default you have a vac leak somewhere...

mine was under the rear seat, where the lines divide towards the trunk.

Default

are you positive? Is that the only thing that would cause this problem?

Default that's most likely.

to test, open one door at a time, and lock the car. If the pump shuts off properly, the leak is leading to that door/trunk/hood.

Default Watch the lock ***** on the doors when you unlock.

One of my rear ones came up very slowly due to friction in the linkages. Solved it with a bit of silicone spray.
Otherwise try opening the trunk as soon as you unlock the car. If you can't then a vacuum leak as described earlier is probably the culprit.

Default

OK. It appears to be the trunk. It takes too long to unlock. Where is a common place for a leak?

Default Start at the vacuum/pressure pump next to the battery.......

Disconnect the hoses one circuit at a time. Plug the connector and activate the central locking from your remote. You should find the circuit that's leaking fairly easily.
According to the Bentley diagram the trunk, fuel flap, and right side rear door are on one circuit. The right front door is on its own circuit and the left side front and rear door on the third circuit.

If it is the trunk circuit it could be rubbed through where it follows the trunk hinge or the junction at the fuel flap.
Note: Some models don't have the fuel flap release.
