General Discussion Question.....
Lately I have been watching/following the WRC racing "world ralley chapionship", and it seems that Audi is never in the standings.....I recall years back when they DOMINATED this sport, (coupe quattro 4000 series etc..)...whats up w/ Audi? the quattro is hands down the best all wheel drive system on the market, and they don't even contend w/ the others...peugeot, subaru, seat, ford etc...maybe audi feels that spending Millions on ralley racing is not necessary, but I would sure love to see them dominate this sport once again!

After Audi pulled out of WRC, they haven't been back...
After that wreck that killed a fan, I believe... I am not the most informed on the entire situation but I think Audi cited the sport being "too dangerous" or something for them to continue to compete.
I think an WRC version of the S3 would look pretty cool, but a torsen diff would be better than haldex, probably.
Either way, Audi has taken over GT and has made their now 3-year run in LMP900 one of the most dominating in motorsports, and they're now moving into F1 with the Seat line.

Yes, it is very dangerous.....a few weeks back................
a ford focus lost control and hit 12-13 fans (never heard if anyone died)....Ford pulled out of that race, but continued with the next leg....
The driving ability and the engineering of the WRC cars is truely unbelievable!

I've seen the MPEG with the rally drivers in the Audi, and all the fans standing in the road
and it mentions something about "...until something could be done about crowd control". BUT, the MPEG is incomplete. The more complete version has a German voice-over, and, well, I don't speak German. Is the voice-over in reference to the fan that was killed, or was it in reference to something else?
Just curious.

It sounds like the sport is dangerous for fans, not for drivers
Can organizers move people somewhere.
On the other side just heard, that some hockey fan was hit by puck and died.

What are you talking about??? (updated)
Audi USED to rally. Audi raced "Group B", which was a very high performance modified rally division. 1986 was the last year of "Group B" rally racing (it was stopped because it was too dangerous). Audi raced "Group A" for one year, in 1987, with a 200q (NA-5cyl) and then pulled out of rallying.
After rallying, in 1988, Audi moved on to the Trans-AM NASCAR series with a 200tq. In 1989 was the IMSA GTO series. In 1989 Audi raced a 20v turbocharged 90q. The cars engine was tweeked to 710hp out of a 5-clyinder 2.2L engine (not too bad).
After this Audi moved onto Touring car racing. They raced from 1990-1992 in the German Touring Car Chamionship and 1996-1997 in the British Touring Car Championship. The final move (so far) was a move to GT racing in the Le Mans and ALMS series.
They also set some land speed records and Pike Peak race records along the way. Many of which still stand today.
Though Audi does well they don't win everything (yet). Audi rallied from 1982-1987. Audi won the rally manufactures title in 1982 and 1984 (although they did win quite a few second places and driver titles). After rallying and going to the US, Audi won the manufactures title in 1988 and got second in 1989. In touring car racing Audi won in 1990, 1991 and 1996.
We all know what happened at LeMan's the last two years right??
I guess Audi dominates in whatever class they race
Regards!!

WRC video
I have a WRC video that is SUPER! But, I don't know how to get it to y'all. It's 18MB and I don't have a website.
WRC looks so exhilirating. But, if you saw this video, you'd be concerned about fan safety.
