How Come?
How come the Germans who build these absolutely wonderful (though sometimes quirky) cars can't seem to make a t-stat to last more than a year? This will be the 4th in 4 years. One changed @ dealer, one by indie and one by me. Any particular brand I should get this time to see if #4 is the charm? It's Buffalo, it's 15 degrees. I really don't relish an afternoon in the garage so I guess it's off to the indie guy.
Thanks for any input.

I've had good luck with the BTT brand, which I think is OEM and comes in a Behr box
Our Avant is still on whatever t-stat it came with when we bought it in June'06. But 2 sedans I bought after that (to fix and sell) both had bad t-stats and would take 20min to warm up, if at all. I put BTT's in them both. Of course I sold them, so I don't know how they've held up.

Thanks ausitnado, looks like both responses were Behr, so guess that is what I will put in.

I've heard the t-stat is the same as an older Toyota Land Cruiser...
...But I have yet to confirm that. If so, I'd be inclined to go to the Toyota dealer and get one there.
Does anyone around here know for sure?
