Default How not to replace your AT radiator - help needed

Had my radiator replaced by a panelbeater with a new WAG radiator after a motorcycler ruined my front-end. Turns out he washed the lines out with water. Now after replacing the ATF 2 times, there is a terrible oil leak at the radiator where the pipes from the tranny come in. Does anyone know why this would be? I had them tightened at the last AT transmission service, but that did not make a difference. Is there a seal that could be broken and can be replaced?

Each pipe has a replaceable O-ring.

And make sure to buy the correct ones, or it will leak.

Thanks a lot for the advice, I ordered the seals. Does anyone have advice on installing them/what not to do? The guy at the autobox repair shop said those fittings are quite sensitive and can break easily.

Default Put 'em on the fittings, put a little oil on them and slide the fittings into the radiator

You don't need to over-tighten the bolt that holds the flange to the radiator tank. It's the o-ring that's doing the work. The bolt/flange just hold it all together squarely.

To follow-up on this thread, I did pull out the ATF lines coming in on the top portion (pass side) of the radiator (I should have read this post first). Now I am trying to put it back in but find it is realy though (impossible?) to get back in... I recall when I pulled it out there was a small "pop" when it got released from the radiator (with a bit of strenght but not excessive). I find I cannot apply the same pressure to get it back in.

Just tightening the bolt from the support only makes the line crooked on one side and the seal / assembly does not look right.

By disconnecting the top line only I don't think I lost any fluid, am I wrong on that?

What should I do to get that line back in? Am I screwed???

Thanks...
