To the bulbs I mean. I thought I heard that a small plastic tab had to be cut from the bulb's connector end to make them fit into the existing spots.

I have replacements for the low beams, high beams and the fog lights in the housing. Am I going to have to do anything to make these fit or do afterwards to finish the install? Thanks in advance.

Default And how good do those look? I hate putting cheesy stuff on my car. Also...

What you read about "having to cut off a tab" was if you wanna install the higher-wattage h4/9005/6 bulbs or something like that whereas right now you have 9004 and h3 for fogs (I believe). That's when you need to cut a tab. I don't know how "safe" it is for your car, but whatever.

Default What bulb model number do you have? H1? H4? H7?

I replaced both my H4 & H1 equipped headlights, with SilverStars, and I was impressed by the lighting the SilverStars gave off! ;o)

My current RS2 headlights have H1 bulbs, and I found out the 'Euro' SilverStars are a better bulb, so I bought them from here-<ul><li><a href="http://www.powerbulbs.com">http://www.powerbulbs.com</a</li></ul>

Default Mine went in with no mods.

Here's a copy of an old post I made when I first installed the lights:

"I installed the Sylvania Silverstar 9006ST bulbs in my A6 last night and I wanted to give an opinion and some pictures. I wanted to go with HID upgrade, but really didn't want to spend the money. The bulbs were $19.99 a piece at AutoZone and I just found a $10 rebate on the pair from Sylvania's website. Here's the link:

http://www.sylvania.com/auto/silverstar.htm

I already had Sylvania 9006 regular bulbs in there, but I did notice a big difference. The light was a lot whiter and more the look I was going for. The old bulbs were very yellow. The visibility is marginally better, but I never really had trouble with that. I'd say for the $30 price tag they are definitely worth it. "

I still like the lights. From what I can tell, they aren't "cheesy". No modifications to the lights were needed. I believe you need mods if you want to use high beam bulbs in the low beam spot.

Default Try here...

You do not have to do this mod if you use the right bulbs in the right sockets.. it should work... but if you are trying to fit the High Beam bulb in low beam socket then you want to do this... the advantage is that the High beam bub is clear and is 65W whereas the low beam bulb is blac/silver capped with only 55W. Anyways we hardly use high beam so I really do not suggest spending money on a high beam bulb...<ul><li><a href="http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Upgrade/More_light.htm">http://www.bmwe34.net/E34main/Upgrade/More_light.htm</a</li></ul>
