Noob without Owner's Manual

Noob without Owner's Manual
As I continue my way through this 96 A6 quattro wagon, I find some surprises. Since the battery is under the back seat, I can only guess how you would jump start this car with a drained/dead battery, without removing that seat. I see there is a positive terminal post under the hood on the passenger's side. Where is the negative post? Is it the stud by the fuel filter?
I'm sure this will come into play sometime in the future.

Re: Noob without Owner's Manual
I believe a link to the positive terminal is what is located next to the fuel filer. At least that is how it is on my '94 100...

Re: You might want to check this out
I did purchase a Bentley's manual. I don't think it really helps that much. I see you didn't actually answer the question. Probably since Bentley's doesn't address this matter. If it does, I'd appreciate a reference section.
Referring individuals to a manual is an approach. Sort of like when people ask a Christian about Christianity, instead of directly answering their question, you could refer them to the Bible.

Well, don't point out that you are without a manual then...
You probably shouldn't ask a question of people stating that it's because you don't own a manual, then condemn someone for referring you to a place where you can buy one. As a new user of this forum, being condescending will get you nowhere, friend.

If you don't know the answer, you're not required to respond. Please refer to "austinado16"'s response, he knows how to add valve here.

Oh. My. God.
You're right. I'm not adding "valve" here. I wish that there was a valve behind your ear so someone could let the sap run out. Follow that original link again, scroll down to your model car, order an owners manual (because the answer to your question and many more are in there), and stop acting like an unruly child.

Write on the back of the print out....
the URL to this site. Then, next time you have a question that would easily be answered in the owner's manual, you can post on this site.
Of course, someone's likely to tell you how to get a manual and you can spend more time posting back trash messages. Or, you could actually take SoCal's advice and get your own manual and save yourself a lot of time and trouble.
Where's the jack? What does that light mean? Where are the fuses? What should the tire press be?
On the other hand, if you are trying to install a timing belt, control arm, or figure out transmission codes, this site is a valuable place to be.
