Thinking of buying 94 CS Quattro Wagon with 200K. Besides the timing belt and CV joints, is there any other major issues with these cars?

Thanks,

I have this exact car. I really like it, but as with all German cars esp. with that many miles, expect to spend a lot of time doing maintenance and repairs. With that many miles unless they've been rebuilt, the engine and transmission are probably near the end of their lives. I wouldn't pay too much for this car, maybe $1500 if it's in good shape.

Here's the buyers guide someone put together:

Actually use this link, I didn't realize it was on the new FAQ:

Why on earth can't you edit messages here? Man, quattroworld is such a better forum.

As long as it was maintained well... I wouldn't be too afraid of it. If it was neglected... well... budget about $1500-2500 for repairs, and buy it. It is a LOT of car for the money, and I think even with the repairs you'd be happier than driving a civic or something.

not really. C4s were pretty simple and reliable. Ignition switches are possessed by the devil, but you get used to it. What's the CV joint problem? For that matter, what's the TB problem? Normal maint.

Service the auto tranny every 30k or so.

Beware cat replacement looms, unless its been done
