needed a jump. It was never above 15 degrees all weekend, is that something that happens if I don't drive in the cold? Battery has never given me any problems.

Default I'm in the same boat as you man!

I didn't drive my car at all Sunday and it wouldn't start Monday morning. Only difference is it was -20 the whole time here.

I'm not putting my battery at fault, that thing was putting up a fight! I cranked on it 5 or 6 times in the morning, then a bunch more in the afternoon and wouldn't start. Finally around 4 I let it crank for 45 seconds and it almost started. About 30 seconds more of cranking after that and it fired right up. I never had to charge the battery once.

If your battery is bad it will show it in the cold, bring it in to get tested. Tons of cars here were dieing this morning. Some were in the middle of intersections and there was nothing they could do. Tow trucks were all busy, cops were busy, and no body wanted to stand outside for long so they just abandoned ship!

Default A weak battery won't provide enough amps to start a car when is very cold...

If your battery is 4 - 6+ years old, it probably is due for replacement. We haven't been that cold here in Western Washington, but we did get in the upper teens to low 20s the second week of last month. My 6+ year battery went dead right before it snowed and the temp dropped.

Default back in russia we had a lot of problems starting cars on cold morning.

my dad usually used water instead of antifreaze. Every night he drained it. And in the morning the filled system with boiling hot water. It made motor warmer and oil les viscosous.

Another point - do not use 15W40 in the winter. 0w30 or 0w40 is much better.

Get new batery

try to jump start, but still the cold motor is a b!ch.
