Default Suspension/strut changes instructions

Does anyone have instructions or schematics on the front suspension of a '96 A6. I've tried searching but couldn't get ant details. I have done this before on a '88 Audi 90 but the A6 is different. Much appreciated in advance. Thanks
Dave

Default Re: FWD or quattro??

It's FWD, thanks for the schematic and ditto on the picture. Any other info would be great (eg. upgraded struts)

Default I did my Old 1990 100 in about 15 minutes. Your's may be similar

The schematic looks like the older 100's. I had a 1990. Did not even have to jack up the car. Just pop the covers under the hood, remove the nut and retainer and the slide up and out. You may have to remove the hood though since they site pretty far back. Check the Bentley Manual or Alldata. They have how to do with time allowances too.

Enjoy!

Default For Quattro is it possible to remove the strut from above?

Ive done Struts on my Maxima many times but they are the whole strut, not the simple cartrige. Is it at all possible to compress the spring and remove the top of thespring assy and attempt to pull the cartrige out through the hood compartment? or am i going way out of reality here

Default I changed the fronts on my 97q with the car sitting on the ground

Pulled the inserts out through the engine compartment. And the hood opened plenty wide enough to allow it. Just had some clearance issues with the wrench and the hood strut (that holds the hood open) when doing the driver's side.

I meant to post my own version of someone else's insructions on here, with a few cautions and my own observations, but I can't recall if I did that or not. I'll check...
