Default voltage before starting engine

Just curious, for those of you with voltmeters on the dash (now I have one thanks to recent 1995 cluster transplant), what reading do you get when you turn the key to "on" before engaging the starter for the first time in the morning? Mine shows just under 12 volts, which seems kind of low.

Default Just under 12 here too, I think that's normal, since the volts at insturment will be somewhat

diminshed by the high resistance in car circuitry.

Default Pretty sure mine is just under 12.

I've checked it with an actual volt meter too, I don't have one on the dash.

I never worried about it because I have left my parking lights on for 7-8 hours straight (probably because I took out the stupid door buzzer!) multiple times and the car still fired right up.
