Will decarbonizing my motor(v6 12v w/ 203,000mi) help with burning oil.....
eventually Ill be changing the valve stem seals but I was wondering if this would help to clean the low compression piston rings. Im burning 3/4q every 1000mi. thanks

These engines do burn some oil, 1/2 qt. per 1000 is considered acceptable as I recall. I'd....
suggest seeing if you have any oil leaks that are contributing. I'd also suggest trying another brand of oil to compare, they do vary on consumption. I burn around 1/3-1/2 qt. per 1000 miles, it's gone down since I fixed my leaking valve cover. I run 5w-40 by the way.

What you're burning sounds normal. Try switching to a synthetic and see if it improves.
Mine burned a lot of oil on conventional motor oil, so I switch to Castrol Syntec 5w/50 and that really helped.
I recently replaced the valve stem seals while I had the heads off (for now good reason) so now we'll see if that helps.
209,000mi here.
