Looks like a pretty big snail attached to the back of that thing. What's handling the pressure release if there's no BOV?

Release
Well I guess getting back on the gas after a shift takes care of the pressure. Some people swear by the BOV,and others think there a waste. Personally I've had cars with, and without. I'm not convinced they are really needed. What are your thoughts?

Re: Release
My primary concern would be the excess boost pressure with a closed throttle(while shifting) attempting to spin the turbo backwards. The pressure has to go somewhere. Is your setup using an internal or external wastegate?
